RATB has chosen UTI as partner in the new billing system for public transportation

UTI INTERNATIONAL – AP TRANS consortium and RATB have recently concluded a contract, whose object consists of the execution of an automated billing system for public transportation in Bucharest. The contract amounts to over 12 million Euro, the implementation period has been estimated to 12 months, UTI being declared winner after an international auction. By this contract UTI will create and implement an integrated solution that will be used by RATB, Metrorex and other 6 transport operators.

The solution will allow the tariff integration of the transport operators, while the passengers will be presented with attractive offers. The users of the public transportation system will use a unique, intelligent, contactless card in order to pay for the journeys by RATB and METROREX transportation means. The intelligent card could also be used in the future for the payment of the journeys provided by other transport operators and for the payment of other services. The passenger could also restrict the utilisation of the journey card in case it gets lost or stolen, as for the bank cards.

Through the implemented system, the transport operators could provide the passengers with improved services, based on integrated and flexible tariff policies and on exact information regarding the number and the categories of transported passengers.
